It was an hour drive to San Pablo, Laguna to reach Sanctuario de San Pablo... such a paradise in the heart of a city, where we celebrated Dra. Chiqui and Ytet's Birthday. We dressed up in rainbow bright colors, swimmed a little and had an hour spa package, then an oversized dinner for the finale.

It's always FUN to be with friends... can't wait for the next celebration!

Birthday months are here now, so this means we have to add another year of memories and birthday themes and gimmicks. We, the Scrapaholics really spends time and planning everytime birthdays are coming. You can just imagine the text messages, emails and telephone calls just to put up a great secret in preparing one's birthday. So... let the celebration BEGINS!

It's ate Liezl's ___th birthday! Oh number is never been important to us, but we always look forward on how to surprise the celebrant. Since it was a national holiday in the Philippines, we celebrate the National Heroes Day! Ate Liezl asked us to dress in red, white or blue and wear some pearls too. For the first part of the day, we headed on to Capitulo Resto along Brgy. Banca-banca, Victoria, Laguna.

We had (Clockwise) Jardenero's Gourmet Plate, Beef Salpicao, Paella Negra and Ginataang Kohol at Pako and Lumpiang Gulay for lunch! Then she had a tsinelas cake made by Lei Tajao.

The birthday girl went shoe-SHOPPING! I heard she got 10 pairs of shoes for her and her 2 girls. Laban kayo sa shopping powers ni Ate Sisa?!

After hours of shoes shopping... we settled at Arabela, a famous pasta-pizza place at the heart of Liliw, Laguna. Very nice place for a remote province, check it out...

4th LBS Easter Egg Hunting...

This is getting to be a tradition to our getting bigger and bigger family... this time we had the egg hunt at UPLB Animal parking area behind the carillion. As usual, Doc Ritz and Ryan were in charge in hiding the eggs, Ytet made the basket tags and we all prepared sandwiches, chips and dip. I can't believe that Doc Ritz's 3 huge bags were full of prizes, toys, chocolates and chips. Ryan's Ice box were loaded with beer too! This year's hunting had a little twist... the daddys get to hunt for the eggs and not the mommys! Here are the highlights of the event...

Helga, Gee and Baby Ike came late, but that's ok! We missed Timi and her family this year, she'll make up next year I'm sure, because she'll be bringing along another addition to our family.

She hosted our first PAJAMA Party last June 13, 2009. It was almost 5 in the afternoon when we reached her beautiful home. She allowed us to play and messed up her living and dining areas the whole night... THANKS A LOT Doc Ritz! Here's what happened...

Gian greeted everyone who came yesterday... "Hello! Welcome to LBS' 3rd Easter Egg Hunt!" This is getting to be a sure annual affair for the Scrapaholics' family. No wonder its getting to be exciting and anticipating each coming year. Rita's Crop Birthday Party!

It's the start of another year and what a better way to do it, is to celebrate again! Yup, we celebrated Rita's birthday yesterday at her beautiful home... it was not just a party but we SCRAPPED!

Here's the first part of the happening... we had Tuna Pesto with Olives Pasta, Tacos Salad and Helga's Aunt's special Okoy... really yummy!

Then, the gift giving... a special gift for a very special person!

Then, comes the pictorial of the violet beauties...

And last part was the scrapping time! We scrapped our Christmas Hatty Party pictures... and would you believe this two scrapped! So happy to bond again with the scrapaholics...

Christmas Party

We celebrated our Christmas Party the same day we celebrated Issa's birthday last Monday, December 15. After our pictorial and gift giving for Issa's birthday, we changed our headresses to Santa's hats.

Chiqui hosted two games - Unscramble the letters and Name the paper manufacturer, won by Rita and Issa, respectively. Helga also hosted another game...Charade. We were divided into two groups: Cors, Rita and Chiqui as one group and Liezl, Ytet and myself as another group. Issa was our ever reliable timer and photographer. Cors and Liezl were the ones who acted out the ten Christmas-related words prepared by Helga. In the end, our group won with eight out of ten correct answers. We were all bursting with laughter as Cors and Liezl reenacted Christmas words like hamon, quezo de bola, panunuluyan, fruit salad...

Of course, no party would be complete without the food. Issa bought our main dishes including tuna pesto, chicken cordon blu and spicy chicken salad while the rest of us took care of the dessert (Red Ribbon Mango Cream Pie Cake and Leche flan) and drinks.

We also had our exchange gift ala PS-SE style. We didn't buy our gifts instead we just put P250 worth of scrapbooking items together from our stash. Not only that, we also copied PS-Se's 7 steps to your left, 10 steps to your right and so on and so forth...

Timi, Chiqui, Cheche and I attended the most awaited Christmas Party of Pinoy Scrapbookers and Scrapbook Exchange family! We came late, but what caught my attention upon signing up was the HUMAN BINGO paper. The rule was to have the scrappers signed it according to the list on the paper. Then for the stores, you have to have a purchase of atleast P50 so that the store owner will sign the bingo. What touched our hearts was this... everyone was waiting for the LB girls! Oh its just a signature, but it was so nice of them to include us in the bingo requirement. Salamat po sa Pinoy Scrapbookers at Scrapbook Exchange coordinators! Para sa amin, mahal nyo ang mga tiga-LB!

Will post later for the other happenings... do you know that we won in the "dress up a mannequin", with the every great BJay and Ems Foronda!

October and November Celebrants' Celebration...

The months of October and November are party time for the Scrapaholics...Yup! because it's Timi's birthday on October 12, Ytet on the 14th, Chiqui on the 18th, Helga on November 1 and Cors on the 15th. So much to celebrate kahit super delayed na ang parties. We planned for a "cook and crop" party! Ytet and I cooked on the spot, taught the LB mommies to make my Blue Marlin Garlic Steak and Ytet's Cream Dory fish and Tofu with black beans ala Chowking style and a real-mouth watering Nachos and Salsa dip. Helga made her famous Spanish Sardines pasta, Chiqui got the best Okoy from Helga's Auntie and Cors got sweets from Goldilocks. Party na hindi ba...

The October ladies gave us an apron to decorate for their party give-away... same pack of embellishments but look, each of us has our own style.

After the scrumptious lunch, we cropped! The November ladies gave us a kit for a mini-calendar notebook.

The LB Girls had a "cook and crop" party this afternoon... but that's not it! We were able to visit Dra. Rita and hubby Ryan's new and beautiful home. And its also our first time to meet the beautiful princess of the their palace... baby Shanead Marie! Yup, she was born on November 6, 2008 at the Asian Hospital... she's here!

MEG is her nickname, the funny story about her nickname? Better ask Rita...hehehe! Congratulations to Ryan and Rita for a healthy and beautiful baby girl! Hmm..then who's next to have a new baby? Itanong nyo sa mga T-back ni Coranini at abangan ang susunod na kabanata! Teka, nabigyan ka na ba ng T-back ni Cors? Hehehe... joke!

First Crop
Here's our first weekend crop last June 7 at Dra. Chiqui's place... the instructions were as follows: scrap on a plain cardstock for the base paper, 75% white space, use stamps, use at least 5 buttons, and use a metal embellishment. Present during the crop were Timi, ate Liezl, Helga, Dra. Chiqui and myself. Dra. Rita was on house arrest that time, but she still made a layout later.

Our second weekend crop was held in my place last June 21... Following Helga's BINGO card instructions, we have to scrap a page with the following: use transparency, use 5 different fonts for the title, use stamps, use plain white cardstock for the base paper and use at least 1 black and white photo. Easter Happening!

Last Sunday, March 23, we celebrated Easter with our families. It was the 2nd LB Scrapaholics Easter Egg Hunting and Family Day! Plus, there were birthday celebrants also, Danna (Timi's daughter) and Dodo (my hubby). We all gathered up at Timi's office at the UPLB Agronomy building and started partying at 4PM. We were all there except for Cors and husband Deds, and Ytet and her family... sayang, you miss a lot of fun and photo opps.

UP Rural High School's HE-AGGIE Fair

Dra. Rita, Dra. Chiqui, Cors, Timi and I were at UP Rural High School last Thursday, February 21, 2008. We lectured on altered art using old CDs to about 40 Home Economics-Club Members.

There were about 15 students who finished the 2-CD project, but only 11 brought photos. We will be giving a little something for the 11 girls who finished their projects. Please watch out for the slide, We'll post the finished projects soon...

Last Saturday-- Helga, Timi, Ytet, Yvette and I, attended the February Eyeball of the Scrap Exchange Group, sponsored by the ever-generous Nette Madero of My Little Attic and Marisa of Scrapbooks Hawaii. We were all really excited to come, but unfortunately some of us like Rita, Liezl, Cors and Chiqui couldn't make it because of some earlier commitments. We cannot miss this event knowing that MLA and SB will be giving tons of discounts. And we always wanted to support Nette and Marisa's challenges... and so we waited to know the winners of their contests... and we were all so lucky to win!!!

According to Timi, it's her first time to win in a local on-line challenge. She got the grand prize for MLA's Pop Culture Challenge...

It has been quite awhile since we last posted, eto at puro celebrations na naman ang grupo! August to January are the birthday months of all of us, kaya sigurado every month may magbo-blow out. This time we have to celebrate 3 birthdays in one hit, kasi mahirap ng mabuo ang mga addict specially now that our group here in Los Banos is slowly growing big. Helga's birthday was last November 1, Cors was on November 15 and mine is a week advance. But it was really great kahit madalian lang ang preparations, so great to be together with good friends as always. It was also a welcome back get-together for Dra. Ritz, she came from Bangkok last week and gave us the famous sampalok of Thailand... thanks Dra! Too bad that we miss Dra. Chiqui and Yvette. You miss the food, it was really great! Cors ordered Mixed Fried, Bagoong Rice, Spicy Beef, Chicken Pandan, Crispy Chicken Salad and Pad Thai... great choice of food and place Cors!

Happy Birthday to Timi (October 12), Ytet (October 14) and Dra. Chiqui (October 18)!!! We had dinner in my house and we had a real good bonding moment! Ytet cooked oriental beef and pinaputok na tilapia, timi had lumpiang ubod and bug-ong roasted chicken and Dra. Chiqui made fresh fruit salad. Baby Ike was also there to celebrate with us. Last Sunday, October 14 was the Christening of Baby Ike, Gee and Helga's first-born. Of course, lahat ng LB Scrapaholics ninang - Rita, Liezl, Issa, Cors and myself. So it's official, magkukumare na kami! This special event was held at St. Therese Parish, College, Laguna. Reception was in a resort in Asiaville, Bay, Laguna. To Baby Ike, welcome to the Christian World! May you grow up to be a good boy.

I celebrated my 37th birthday last Friday, October 12 and I received two unexpected gifts - first, I was accepted as a Designer Diva in MY SKETCH WORLD and second, I won another contest at A Peek into Yesterday with the theme "My Favorite Outfit". That means another $25 gift certificate! Yipee!!!

Once upon a time, there was a lady named Timi who hated the color red. Anything red she disliked – red clothes, red shoes, red bags, anything red! She vowed that she would never wear anything that was red. She found this color too loud for her personality, too glaring and too flashy. For a time, she was into browns and dark blues.
One day, when she was shopping for clothes, she noticed this red blouse, as if inviting her to try it on. She tried it on and it fitted her just right. To her surprise, it looked beautiful on her. With that red blouse on, her face glowed. It put the sweetest smile on her lips like never before. That was the first red blouse she bought and wore. From then on, whenever she shopped for clothes she would always consider red, a color she used to hate but learned to love. And now if you look at her closet you will find more of reds than any other color!

Joanne Yap's Visit!

Joanne Yap visited us yesterday... nakonsensya daw sya because of Cors, the look on Cors' face made her realized that she had to come visit us her in Los Banos. First stop was my house, she had a little breakfast with Timi and I. Then Dra. Rita, Ate Liezl and Cors came to meet her. Then we went to Helga's place and had champorado and dilis on the side. And a little bonding with Baby Ike. It was play time again, so we went naman to Dra. Rita's place and played with Joanne's autumn leaves clear stamps. Ate Liezl's phone was alarming us to finally stop and have lunch. So, we fly naman to Palaisdaan in Bay! After the chats and picture taking, goodbye time came next with matching CRYING!

We will never forget the first time we met Joanne, she gave us a very warm welcome during the first ever scrapfest and from then on she became close to us. We vowed not to miss any scrapfest. That warm feeling never fade but instead gets warmer and deeper as time goes by. It's really hard to say goodbye to a dear Friend! But I know, we will still see you... we have to see you again!

I was so happy when I received the news that I will be Sister of the Week of September 23-29th at sisterhoodofscrap.blogspot.com. I have been joining their weekly challenges for some time now. At last I made it...I am now a certified sister of the Sisterhood of Scrap.

They will be highlighting me this week for a chance to inspire other scrapbookers. I will sharing some of my LOs, favorite technique and some tips on scrapbooking. I'm also given the chance to give a journaling challenge plus they'll be sending me a thank you gift...yipee! They also send me my very own "I'm a Sister" blinkie.

Quoting Joanne Yap when she invited everyone to join this challenge "to try is to test your own capabilities, to attempt is your own personal challenge, and to win is icing on the cake!"

I got eliminated from the "IDOL" after 6 out of the 8 week challenge. I would say - "it was a good fight, though".

Moving up each week until the 6th week is indeed a wonderful experience. "WE" enjoyed the journey and the lessons learned from it will never be forgotten. I said "WE" because i didn't scrap alone throughout those weeks. My kids and Alden (my hubby), my friends and the rest of LBS were with me during those days and nights.

On a daily basis I was constantly reassured by their unending love and support not only to my chosen craft but to my individuality as a person too. Each entry was made with my heart in it, since I don't scrap for the sake of art alone. I scrap to capture and preserve memories and let the legacy live on. I scrap to profoundly express my feelings and my thoughts. Along with each LO is my silent hope that the message will be felt and will be heard first and foremost by my own family to whom i dedicate each piece. And they never failed to do so. I guess it is the best reward any scrapbooker could get.

I am thankful that throughout those "precious and pressured" times, I was able to maintain balance. Never did I neglect a single duty as a multi-task mom.

To Cors, Issa and Doc Ritz - I'm happy you made it to the next round. I will stand by you until the final round. Helga and I will join Timi in doing our own entries as well, though this time its without the pressure of beating the deadline.

Our's is a genuine friendship binded by true love and too much concern for each other. It will always be a "all for one, one for all" journey.

My gratitude to Ms. Tin Yao for the comments you made to all my LOs. Your patience in going over the details of each entry is highly appreciated and the sincerity is felt from all those words you have written.

My special thanks to Ms. Connie Tameling and Ms. Leah Fung for the special mentions... my round 3 entry "Craddle of Memories" and round 5 "Li'l Hands". My exit was made even more graceful with all your wonderful comments.

Timi on Scrapwords Word of the Week Contest

Would you believe that its Timi's second time to win in Scrapwords Word of the Week Contest? First one was her "Play" layout and now its her "Renewed Passion". She will receive an Around the Block package from Leslie Ackman, the owner of Scrapwords Online Store. And here goes her journaling and layout...

Was there ever a time in your life when you felt your passion is dying down? I have experienced this several times in my life, at work (my passion for teaching), in my relationships (my passion to give my entire self), in my craft (my passion to create). Just recently, I was into this phase. I decided to stop donig the thing I am most passionate about, what else but SCRAPBOOKING? All of a sudden, I stopped creating LO's, attending scrapbook-related events, joining contests, buying scrapbook stuff, seeing my scrappin' friends. This lasted for almost three months (March to June 2007). I missed a lot of things - new supplies and trends. I missed a whole lot of people - the LB Scrapaholics and my scrappin' friends! I missed being published in E-zines and newsletters where I was supposed to write an article. I was totally left out. It was my coice, no one to blame but me. But one day in the month of June, I woke up telling myself that I can't live without scrapbooking. I was glad that phase was over. I began scrapping again, this time with a renewed passion to create and share my creations with the world as I started posting in international galleries and blogs. It's good to be back.

Scrappin' Mom's Idol

We are so happy! Rita, Liezl, Cors, Helga and I are still in until now at the round 5 of the Scrappin' Mom's Idol. This 2-month challenge changed many things about ourselves... first, it made us much closer to each other, sharing ideas, materials and our layouts before every upload. The friendship moved to another level that we only discovered because of sharing and unselfishness. Next, we learned so much from our co-contestants that our layouts really improved to another level of scrapbooking.

Sad that Timi wasn't able to join us because she had some commitments with her work as a UP professor during the elimination round. But she stood beside us all, helping us in any way she can specially editing our journals before the final printing. Oh, she also tries to make the challenge's layouts every week! means she's with us pa rin.

We will never forget our motto..."All for one, one for all" meaning "laban ng isa, laban ng lahat" and "premyo ng isa, premyo ng lahat" hating kapatid, walang lamangan!

Overall it's a very good experience having the chance to join the Scrappin' Mom's Idol. Whoever moves to the grand finals will always be the pride of LB Scrapaholics... Goodluck to us and may we continue to love each other even without scrapbook challenges!

It was one hot-summer day when Lala Evangelista visited us here in Los Banos, Laguna. She wanted to feature the LB Scrapaholics and our work areas, so she moved from one house to another to shoot. First stop was Cors at 101 Boutique and the next was Liezl at Sta. Fe Subd. We had lunch at my house and dropped by at Dra. Rita's place too before she had her afternoon clinic. Then the last stop was Helga in the far away land of Jubillee Ville. Timi was sick that time. It was a whole day of never ending stories. Before we parted, Lala wanted to drive around the UPLB campus, we had the final stop at the UPLB Carillon and took some more pictures.

For this month, ate Liezl, Cors and I are in the "ESCAPE corner" of Lala. And next month it'll be Dra. Rita and Helga Vergara's turn to show their scrapbook areas. So watch out!

Timi once again conquered the international scrapbooking scene when she won another US-based online store contest! Her LO entitled "My Collection" won in A Peek Into Yesterday's My _____ Collection Contest which ran from August 20 to 25, 2007. Her LO showcased her various collection of scrapbooking stuff such as ribbons, flowers, fibers and buttons. Her work is featured in the home page of apeekintoyesterday.com for one week. Cor's 101 Boutique celebrated its 9th Anniversary last July 8, 2007. In connection with this, 101 Boutique in cooperation with the LB Scrapaholics sponsored the "ENEAD" mini album contest. The theme is "Anything that has to do with the number 9". Contest ran from July 19 - August 19, 2007. The LB Scrapaholics will judge the said contest. Two winners will be chosen - Grand Prize based on the combined scores of the judges and the People's Choice Award based on voting by 101 Boutique's costumers. Winners will be annouced anytime this month.

Cors, “Cora the Explorer”/ Embellishment Queen

Cors has tons of embellishments that she would always generously share with us. We would always run to her whenever we wanted an item from Divi. She has an eye for earth tones and themes that uses extraordinary embellishments that only Cors can find and make.

Liezl, “Organization Master”

Liezl has a “playroom” in her home that is so organized. She is our designated accountant and property custodian.

She has the ability to make a great picture stand out.

Rita, “Accelarated Scrapbooker”

Rita is the newest member of the group. With only a year of scrapbooking she already has shown creativity and great talent in the said hobby. She would always have ideas that are hard to execute, but she would always do everything to achieve what’s on her mind. Her ideas are so unique and creative that she got a runner-up from her first challenge.

Issa, “Speed Scrapper/Handcutting Master”

Any scrapbooker would envy Issa’s hands. She has the abilty to cut patterns that are so neat. Even her layouts are so clean that one would have the difficulty of finding the cut lines.
Issa is also one of the fastest scrapper that I ever knew. She has the ability to finish 2 to 3 layouts in an afternoon. She can finish these layouts without compromising quality. She doesn’t have backlogs on her scrapbooking layouts and she is often heard complaining “Wala na akong pictures na mai-scrap!”

Timi. “Journaling Champ”

Timi is known for her creativity not only in her layouts but also in her journaling. She is often complimented for her great journaling. Her journaling along with her great layouts is what always makes her win challenges.

Helga, “ Technique Princess”

Helga’s courage to try out new techniques is what gave her the title Technique Princess. She is always hungry for new ideas that she is often seen surfing the net or browsing scrapbooking magazines and books. She is never afraid to test newly discovered techniques and share it with the rest of the LB Scrapaholics. She is also not afraid to mix and match different prints and colors.

It all started with a “not so simple” store called, 101 Boutique, which is co-owned and managed by Cors Mijares. We were all regular customers who would frequently drop by the store to shop, window shop and have endless chat with Cors.

In the beginning the scrapbooking circle was composed of Liezl, Timi and Cors, with the Knorr Scrapbooking Challenge as their first adventure. Would you believe that they were all part of the top 20.Not bad for so called, “newbies”. This contest started the “scrap syndrome.”

The second project was to be Jam 88.9’s, “Scrapbook to Singapore” but it was only Liezl and Cors who joined this time. Luckily both of them won the grand prize of round trip ticket to Singapore. This achievement inspired Issa and myself to take a closer interest on the said hobby.

So in October, 2005 Liezl, Timi, Cors, Issa and myself all joined the Dreambook to Hong Kong Scrapbooking Challenge. This time we were all part of the top 15 with Issa, Timi, and Cors bagging the grand prize. Since then scrapbooking had started to breed a new level of friendship.

Because of our eagerness to spread the scrap syndrome LB Scrapaholics was born, with “Scrap-a-Moment” as our first workshop. In the summer of 2006 we were able to hold four scrapbooking workshops with around 50 participants.

The LB Scrapaholics family is still growing with Rita (my sister-in –law) as our newest member. Now, we see each other almost twice a week. We also hold regular crop sessions that we would alternately host. It is during these crop sessions were we share new ideas, techniques or just simply make a page for a challenge.

Our love and passion for scrapbooking is what keeps us together. Through this passion we were able to elevate our friendship into a level where we see each other not only as friends but also as family.

We always work as a team. We share everything, tools, materials, newly discovered techniques and yes even our challenge prizes. One person’s accomplishment is an accomplishment of each and every one of us. So don’t be surprised if we all rejoice when one of us wins a raffle prize or a scrap challenge.
